ACEPHAP joins Stakeholders at RMNCAH and NTWG Second Quarter Meeting

The African Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) has last week participated in the second quarter meeting of the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health plus Nutrition (RMNCAH) and the Malaria Technical Working Group (NTWG). The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders from across the health sector, served as a platform to assess progress, share updates, and strengthen collaboration among partners working to improve health outcomes in Nigeria.

During the meeting, participants reviewed ongoing projects and interventions targeting critical areas such as maternal and child health, adolescent well-being, nutrition, and malaria prevention. Discussions also highlighted challenges affecting service delivery, including limited resources, coordination gaps, and the need for evidence-based strategies to reach vulnerable populations more effectively.

ACEPHAP presented two new projects that kick started in the second quarter of 2025. The first, Making Cesarean Section Safe, is an initiative to improve cesarean section practices in Kano across healthcare facilities. A total of ten facilities with the highest birth rates across Kano were selected for first baseline assessment.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf in his remarks expressed his gratitude and support for the projects presented by ACEPHAP through Ms. Maryam Zarewa and Mr. Muhammad. He encouraged other Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) to emulate such initiatives for the better health of mothers and children in the state.

The second quarter meeting concluded with renewed pledges from all stakeholders to sustain momentum and enhance collaboration, particularly in achieving national targets related to RMNCAH and malaria control. ACEPHAP’s active participation further strengthens its role as a key player in shaping the future of population health in West and Central Africa.
