ACEPHAP Organises 5-Day Computer Appreciation Workshop for Administrative Staff
A 5-day Computer Appreciation training workshop organised by Africa Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) aimed at building capacity of the University’s administrative staff ends in Kano.
Speaking shortly before she declared the workshop opened, the Director of the Centre, Professor Hadiza Shehu Galadanci said the training workshop was part of the mandate of the centre to improve the capacity of professionals through short courses beyond conventional Masters and PhD degrees programmes.
The training workshop according to Professor Galadanci was intended to improve the capacity of administrative staff to enable the University to produce good and competent administrative staff who would be able to give their best to the University. She urged the participants to make the best use of the opportunity by paying attention to the presentations of the resource persons, particularly during the hands-on sessions.
The Director advised the participants to transfer the knowledge gained at the workshop to their subordinates in their various offices through in house training, adding that doing so would go a long
way to improve the performances of such officers.
Speaking on the objectives of the workshop, Professor Galadanci said participants would among others, be exposed to different kinds of application in an office software package such as Microsoft Office and Google workspace. Participants would also have better understanding of and master the array of tools and features that ships with the Microsoft Office package tools such as: learn power point from beginner to intermediate level, learn spreadsheets from beginners to intermediate level.
She disclosed that the centre would continue to organise training workshops aimed at building the capacity of individuals to make them good administrators.
