Communicating Impact: ACEPHAP communication team participates in Communication Strategy Workshop
In order to amplify the impactful research and innovative activities done by ACE centers and other World Bank-supported projects, the National Universities Commission (NUC) organized a three-day Communication Strategy Workshop for Communication Officers. Alongside other communication officers from around Nigeria and over 15 projects, ACEPHAP communication officer and specialist participated in the workshop to learn better how to communicate innovations in health for effective policy formulation. The sessions started on November 10th to 13th, 2025, at the NUC secretariat in Abuja.
Dr. J. Atah, the National Coordinator for ACE projects in Nigeria, received the communication officers alongside the communication team at the commission. He said communicating achievements and innovative activities in the center is now a great deal for communication officers. It is with the amplification of the achievements that proper decision-making and policy formulation can be done.
Stating clearly their impacts, he admitted that such projects have greatly elevated the status of public universities in Nigeria, especially through research and the training of international students. He then encouraged the participants to work closely with one another and support each other through collaborations and highlighting success stories.
Through the course of the three-day workshop, Dr. Nats Odaodu and Yvonne Orekyeh took the participants through modern approaches to creating and implementing effective communication strategies. The participants were informed on the necessities of stakeholder mapping, principles of strategic communication, media and press relations and monitoring and evaluation of communication efforts, among other key concepts.
Communication officers in attendance were also allowed to present their communication plans currently in use in their centers, which were reviewed and greatly applauded. The workshop ended with the issuance of certificates by the Dr. Atah.
In attendance at the workshop were communications officers from the Center for Dryland Agriculture (CDA), ACETEL and ACEPUTOR, among many others.
